Need Mariokart DS tips

Help me!!! I have beaten the 50 cc and 100 cc on mariokart DS but I can't beat the 150 cc. Does anyone have any tips for me like what karts to use. I have All of the default characters plus daisy, dry bones, and walugi and 3 karts to choose from.

I've beaten all, including mirror

I suggest use dry bones. And I do have a cheat for you:

On DK pass climb up the second mountain, and there will be a item box. Get it, and even if u are coming first it will give you either a star or three mushrooms

Thanks a lot, I have used dry bones before and he is good, but he keeps on getting knocked over.
