Money: 460,053 |  How to make neon text with GIMP. This tutorial is made for use with GIMP. First you must make a BLANK image to work on. To do that, you click on File ~> New. Then you fill in the prompt to get your blank image. Next, you must make a black back/foreground. Double check that your fore [front] colour is black. Then you go to Paintbucket ~> FG Fill ~> click on image. Then you must write the text. A button ~> Choose font etc. ~> Colour white ~> Write. Then, you add a Gaussian blur of 3px. Filters ~> Blur ~> Gaussian Blur. Now, use the "fuzzy select" tool and hold shift to select all the text parts [using the white part of the text]. Then go to Select ~> Grow and grow it by about 4px. Your choice. Then add a layer named "glow" and use the paintbucket with the FG colour of your choice. After that, add a Gaussian blur of 24.5 and make the Original text layer top of the list. And Ta-Da! A glowing neon text.. ~Note: I downloaded GIMP today, so this was the first thing I made. Not my fault if it stuffs up  ~Awesome123

It's just a logo what you're making, but then what about making neon text on sigs? Examples of times when this is needed: Sigs. Xat Bgs. Avvys. =] You see? It's only if you don't want a logo.

Teh story: I was on Gtuts looking at GIMP junk and then I found a tut about neon glowing text, and it just was so long and complicated, so I practically had to create a new method for it.
