Well, More detail into it and its this.
Saint Patrick was a priest, who drove away a plague of snakes, and showed people the holy trinity of a four leaf clover. Which is why we wear green.

I love Saint Patty's day! You get to wear GREEN, and eat. Except i hate corn-beef and cabbage Apart of my family heritage is Irish, it feels cool to celebrate that holiday.

Well, you made me think about where exactly the holiday started from. So I looked it up, because I had nothing better to do. Lol! So,
Some say that St. Patricks was'nt even Irish. He was born on March 17 around 385 AD in Scotland (Others say that he passed away on March 17 and that the day a person dies is a "holy day" and thus becomes a saints holiday celebration). His father was Italian, and his mother was assumed to be Scottish. St. Patrick's real name was Maewyn, but he called himself "Patricius". He was then captured my Irish pirates and sold off into slavery. After about 6 years of that he was said to have a vision telling him "Thy Ship Is Ready For Thee"...
Once he escaped is it rumor that he lived in France and decided to become a monk and devote himself to God. He is said to have another vision, this time telling him, "Convert The Pagans To Christianity". It was then when he founded The Christian Church Of Ireland. He was said to have died in 464, at the age of 79. (There is more to this, but it would take way to long to write it all!!)
