Welcome to CPC. I'm not too old myself, so there's a lot I don't know. Look for the Noob forum. It has a lot of good information. And be sure to read the rules (I think theyre on the home page). They explain a lot. I read them a few days ago and they say spam is 1-4 word posts. They've changed that to 1-2 word posts and you'll see a lot of discussion about that on posts.
If you are a member of Club Penguin, more of the "Cheats and Secrets" will apply than if you're not a member. I'm not a member so I don't understand some of them. However, there is a lot of neat stuff to learn about even if you're not a member.
Just pick out a subject you want to read about from the list of forums (bottom right of each page on my computer), go to it, and start learning. There are posts about rumors (like "Can you tip the iceburg" and "Is there really a yellow puffle?"), stuff about hidden levels in some games, where Rockhopper has been sighted recently, and a lot more.
One word of warning, however. When you post, post in the right place (correct forum). Someone will let you know if you don't. I'm still working on that one.
There are some really nice people around here who will help you with specific questions you may have. Its taken me several weeks to really feel like I can find things.
I haven't used my credits yet, but when you post something, you get credits that can be used to buy things (background, clothes, a puffle, etc.) for a penguin avatar if you're using one.
